Francesco Filippo Nicola Ferrigno 6 Oct 1810-23 Jun 1879

The first Ferrigno that I have found much information about is Francesco Filippo Nicola Ferrigno
who was born on October 6, 1810.  I found a copy of his Atti Di Nati (the equivalent of his Italian birth certificate).

It shows that his father was named Antonio, a fisherman "pescatore", who was 30 years old and was married to his mother Loretta Scotto Di Michele.  So Antonio would have been born in about 1780.
Antonio's father was named Francesco who is listed as "fu" or deceased.  So, even though I have not found records for Francesco, we know from this record that he died prior to October of 1810.

Francesco Filippo was born at number 30 Via Torrione on in the commune "town" of Forio on the
island of Ischia.  He was also a fisherman and was married to Nicolangela Polito who was born on December 31 1814.
She is listed as being a "filatrice" or spinner.  Together they had seven children, 5 sons and 2 daughters:
Loreta b. January 22, 1841
Antonio b. January 6 1844 - d. 1879 and his twin brother
Filippo b. January 6, 1844 (my husband's grandfather-who was the only child to emigrate to the        United States) d. 1925 in Philadelphia
Giuseppe b. December 2, 1847-d. August 26 1848 at the age of 8 months
Gennaro Ardito b. September 18, 1848 - d. November 21 1848 at the age of 2 months
Giuseppe b. October 15, 1849 - d April 4, 1854 (it was the tradition in Italian families to name a
child after one who had died) at the age of 4 years and 5 months
Eleonora b. February 20, 1852 - d. December 7, 1859 at the age of 7 years and 9 months.

Francesco died on June 23, 1879 at the age of 68.  Here is a copy of his Atti di Morte (death certificate).
